A-Z Fashion Glossary: Let’s start with ‘A’

Hey! Guys, I have seen a lot of you while shopping struggle to explain what style or detail you are looking for. So, I thought to put together all the fashion terms that might help you next time you go for shopping. I will be covering everything from A-Z. Let’s start with ‘A’. And guess what! You can rent all the examples which are shared, on datetheramp 😉

for A-LINE

A-Line is a style or silhouette in which the dress fits at the shoulder or at the waist & gradually flares out to a wider hemline (lower edge of the garment), which looks like the letter A. The flared blue tunic is by JJ Valaya which flares out from bust line. Where else,  Aneesh Aggarwal’s anarkali flares out from waist line. A-line style is always a good option for triangle & inverted triangle body shape.

A for Angrakha!

Angrakha is a style which overlaps & is tied in front covering the bust. Shyam Narayan Prasad’s mint green angrakha is good for Indian festive wear. Complete the look by wearing right heels, golden earrings & side fish braid with natural makeup.  Anju modi’s angrakha comes under casual wear. It is a good pick if you are planning to wear it for a brunch, messy pony tail, bright lips & a bracelet will do.

A for Applique!

Applique means using different shapes of fabrics and sewing it to another fabric or garment in order to decorate the base material. The first one is by Not So Serious (Pallavi Mohan). It is a unique piece with a lot of hard work. This organza dress is perfect for a date, pair it with white heels, pearl studs & a classy white watch. The green applique saree is by Mandira Bedi which is a right pick for any wedding function. Carry a golden clutch, golden earrings, red lips, side bun and you are good to go.

A for Asymmetric!

Asymmetric design means which is not same on the both right & left side. It can be seen in neckline, hemline, collars & so on. I have picked two asymmetric designs one is by Deme by Gabriella which has asymmetric hemline & another one is by Shantanu & Nikhil which has asymmetric neckline.

Let me know in the comments below if you know more fashion terms starting from ‘A’.

See you guys soon. Toodles!
