Nine Colours For A Ten On Ten Look This Navaratri

Navartri is celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm across our country. It marks the beginning of Durga Puja. Bhakts worship, eat, dance and dress up like there is no tomorrow. The festive spirit gets in with colourful Dandiya nights during those nine days of Navaratri and is celebrated with a lot of fervour. When we talk of fervour, we would never miss fashion, which always goes hand in hand. Every night is yet another tale of colourful Lehengas, chaniya cholis, anarkalis and embellished jackets that complement the celebration with great gusto.

Each day of Navaratri signifies an auspicious colour that adorns the Goddess. Another significance of the colours is the vibrant ambience that sets in and brightens every mood.

We are sure, all fashionistas would love to experiment with these peppy colours and steal all the glances in the evening. Here we have curated, each colour and the best outfits that you can play with to don the perfect festive diva look.

A humble request: Nice things always come in big packages, and, this blog might be slightly long. Kindly scroll a little more than usual. Navaratri is about so much, and, a little more patience for fashion would do no harm. So, please bear with us. 😛

Day 1- The Shades Of Grey Look

The first day of Navaratri, ‘Pratipada’, is when the first form of Durga is worshiped. Grey and it’s multiple shades are considered to be auspicious and soothing for the day.

Deck up for the evening in multi shades of grey ( the shades are due to myriad textures of the cloth) to grab all eyes and be a stunner. Grey, when used creatively, casts an elegant look. The best attribute of grey is that it’s subtle look focusses more on your entire persona instead of just the dress.

You can go for a classy grey lehenga and choli with contrasting dupattas for the much awaited Dandiya Nights. Even Grey sarees with sequin and mirror work would do a lot of talking.

If you are more of a casual babe, you can go for subtle designs of kurtas and anarkalis with a satin or glossy texture which would soberly make you look fabulous.grey-collage-1

Day 2- The Happy Colour- Orange

With the Dwitiya, the bright and brilliant colours start setting in. Happy faces and happy colours that set the ‘maahol’ of Navaratri start with the peppy Orange. In orange, you look like a playful diva, who has been bestowed upon with the Goddess’ choicest blessings.

Orange, as a colour in itself, creates the perfect festive mood. So, just imagine the multiple designs that will ardently shine on you and turn all eyes on you.

Orange mirror work ensembles attract eyes the most. Pair them up with long oxidised gold jhumkas to make the right move.

Go for an orange embellished saree, if you want a desi look. You can even wear orange lehengas with contrast cholis like yellow, pink, blue and vice versa with a dupatta in the Gujarati fashion to be the Dandiya queen. The cholis come with with trendy designs: halter neck, tank top, high collared and many more.

Go right with the footwear because you wouldn’t want to hurt your feet during those endless dandiya sessions, but prefer shimmering heels or wedges that would go with your dress.

Day 3- The Snow White Look- White

The 3rd day, Twitiya, is the day that beckons purity with ‘white’ as the auspicious colour. The colour has a magical charm and gives a peaceful aura to your persona. That is what Navaratris are meant  for, right? To spread the power of austerity and purge our minds and souls.

With white, you get a chance to mix and match with contrast colours and look astoundingly beautiful.

There are a long list of experiments you can do with white. A plain white kurti and patiala with a heavy dupatta would even work wonder or even an embellished white lehenga choli. You can also go the pretty Keralite way, pure white and gold fusion or instead of the Saree, you could go for White Anarkalis with golden work. This time, instead of heavy mirror work, you could actually go different with the elegant and intricate embroidery work.

Pair them with contrasting colourful stilettos or wedges and wear oxidised metal jewellery to walk the hall of fame.

Day 4- The Cherry Look- Red

On the Chaturthi, the vivacious Red tops the list of auspicious colours. The word red itself invokes a lot of emotions. Red is undoubtedly the favourite of a lot of fashion lovers. In India, the colour ‘red’ has a lot of significance and implications. It is auspicious in many occasions and is the harbinger of happiness.

You can wear simple anarkalis with the latest Palazzo pants to furnish a simple yet trendy look. Dangling jhumkas with golden heels would give you a perfect look.

Lehengas without dupattas are around the fashion corner this season and you could actually be a style icon with one of these. Remember Katrina Kaif from the song ‘Nachde ne sare’. Yes! exactly that is how we want you to imagine yourself.

Day 5- The Blue Blood Look- Royal Blue

The Panchami or the ‘5th day of Dussehra’ is marked with the colour of royalty ‘Royal Blue’. It is also called as electric blue for it’s powerful effect. The Goddess is dressed in Blue to mark this day and the same is considered to be auspicious. Known as one of the elegant colours that unanimously suits everyone, this colour’s always been an all time favourite. Poise and elegance oozes from every bit of blue. In few beliefs, blue is also known as a colour that symbolises positivity and nobility.

Fashion lovers have always been gaga over every shade of blue, royal blue being the hottest of the lot. The uniqueness of this is that it renders a mesmerising effect in both traditional and western wear with minimal design. On the Panchami Dandiya Night, be the talk of the town by flaunting the royal blue in a lehenga with contrasting colours like red, orange, turquoise, yellow, nudes and golden. The choli or the lehenga can be any one of these colours.

The all time anarkalis would also make you look like a princess. If you pick an anarkali, blue and gold would be the best match.

Day 6- The Pretty Fellow Look- Yellow

The ‘Sasthi’ or the sixth day of Navaratri follows ‘Yellow’ as its auspicious colour.

Yellow can be used in the pastel or the electric shade. As it is the festive mood of Navaratri, let us keep it all vibrant and electric.

Adorn yourself in yellow with a fusion of another complementing colour in a lehenga. Red, blue, orange and pink would make it look more peppy. You can go sleeveless and that would refrain you from overusing yellow.

Beside lehengas and anarkalis, you could actually take advantage of the festive mood and dress up in  the trending ‘Dhoti Kurtas’, that would undoubtedly fit the ‘Dandiya and Garba’ mood. Trust me, the dhoti kurtas would adorably emit out the cuteness in you. Dhoti Kurtas, long jhumkas and embroidered Juttis.

Oh boy! Even the imagination is so tantalising. Eh, Still reading? Come on, rise up and grab the latest design ASAP.

Day 7- The Go Green Look-  Green

The Saptami marks the 7th day of Durga Puja and associates the colour ‘Green’ with itself. For Dandiya evenings, you can adorn this auspicious colour, with careful designs because not every shade of green is the ‘right green’. You might actually end up looking like a tree, if you don’t play with right shade. Well, no worries at all. We would never want you to face this. Why are we there? Surely to help you pick the rightest green and make you look like a queen of hearts.

Never go for a mono shade of dark green even if it is your favourite colour. When you go for a darker shade of green, it would be the best if you blend it with blue or gold. You don’t wanna end up looking like a hospital curtain for sure. If you go for a lighter shade, you can actually prop it with neon pink, and get the ‘Radha teri Chunri’ look. You could also go for a floral motif lehenga with major focus on light green.

Now that we have solved this mystery about green, ready to turn all eyes green this evening? Go hit the floor lady!

Day 8- The Dancing Look- Peacock Green

It is during the Astami, the 8th day of Dusehra, that the festive fervour is at it’s peak. The pandals are all decorated and ready to be hopped, and, even the auspicious colour for this day is also another colourful yet soothing one, Peacock Green. There are ample number of marvellous tried and tested designs that can be flaunted. A blend of the stunning blue, and, the soothing green, what else do you need for those beautiful selfies that would be lined up for your Insta account.

Peacock green coloured saris definitely would be an eye catching ensemble that would simply look great on anyone. Besides, you can also try Anarkalis or desi tunics with golden thread work and waistcoats to try something new. A peacock feather theme could also be flaunted as an accessory or could be the motif of your dress. If you go for a peacock green coloured dress, then always try to go mild on your accessories to cast an elegant look.

Day 9- The regal look- Purple

The last day or grand finale of Navaratri is the Navami, where the Goddess is worshipped in the auspicious hues of Purple. The Navami is the prelude to Vijaya Dasami when Maa Durga is given a grand farewell. This day marks the celebration of happiness and perfection that the Goddess bestows on her worshippers.

When we talk about perfection and happiness, we know all our pretty fashionistas would be thriving to look nothing less than perfection. Here, we have the colour Purple, disguised in the form of trendy ensembles from the splendid regalia of the fashion world. Known as the colour of the royals, the colour Purple looks soothing, and, comes with a lot of grace.

Mono Colour Purple with good embroidery and thread work would alone do much of the talking. but, if you carefully blend it with playful colours, it can also give a contemporary look. purple-collage
