We will be learning about halter, haute couture, handkerchief hem, high low hem & high neck. The other words you can look for are hood, horsehair, herringbone, hue, hoop & hipster. Let’s get started.
H stands for Halter!
A top with a strap encircling the neck used to support the garment to the body, leaving the shoulders and the back bare. Here I have a sensual halter cutout gown from Deme by Gabriella. A well-defined eye will make it look even more sensual. Leave your hair undone on one side and flaunt your back 😉
H stands for Handkerchief Hem!
Before learning about the handkerchief hem let us see what is hem. A hem is the end/edge of a piece of cloth, where a fabric has been folded & sewn to prevent material from fraying. Handkerchief Hem is the hemline of a dress or a skirt made of fabric that falls in points, like the corners of a handkerchief(usually a square piece of fabric is used for creating this hem). Ritu Kumar’s Black printed kurti is a perfect example of this hem. Rent the look here…
H stands for Haute Couture!
The meaning of haute is high & Couture is a French term for dressmaking. A unique design made-to-order for a private client. With more than one fitting. These garments are not mass produced and have only one size, everything from embroidery to joining pieces is done by hand. Which is why it is a part of slow fashion. Shantanu & Nikhil’s Red gown is an exquisite example of haute couture. For experiencing it you don’t have to buy it just rent it and enjoy the luxury here…
H stands for High Low!
High-low hem is short in front & long at back. Malini Ramani’s top is an example of high-low hem. You can pair it with wide leg pants or a long skirt, wear statement earrings, pumps, a high pony will make you look longer, for makeup accentuate either eyes or lips & look the best of both worlds. 😉
H stands for High Neck!
High neck is having a neckline of greater than average height. This neckline is perfect for the ladies who have a small bust. It is a good option for winter wear to keep your neck warm. I have picked out two styles of high neckline one high necked asymmetric dress by Deme for the women who western more than ethnic & a fusion high necked by Shantanu & Nikhil for the women who prefer fusion more than ethnic.
See you guys soon with the next blog. Toodles!
